"Reiki is love,
Love is wholeness,
Wholeness is balance,
Balance is well-being,
Well-being is freedom from disease."
Dr. Mikao Usui
What is Reiki?

Reiki is a safe, gentle and relaxing form of healing developed in Japan in the twentieth century by Mikao Usui. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words ‘Rei’ and ‘Ki’, which together translate as ‘universal life force energy’.

It is administered by laying hands on or above the body. It is based on the idea that an unseen ‘life force energy’ flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s ‘life force energy’ is low, then we are more likely to feel pain, stress or become ill. If one’s life force energy is high, our body is more harmonised and we are more capable of feeling happy and healthy.

Being a holistic therapy, Reiki treats the whole person, on every level: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Reiki energy flows to where it is needed to bring the body back into its natural state of balance, helping the body to release trauma, clear any energy blockages thereby allowing energy to flow freely and the body to heal itself and function efficiently. Reiki has meditative qualities and although it is spiritual in nature, it is not associated with any particular belief system.

As a complementary therapy, Reiki works effectively alongside conventional healthcare and natural remedies, thus expanding treatment options. It is not a substitute for conventional medical treatment.

What does a Reiki treatment feel like?

Every person experiences Reiki differently depending on their individual needs at the time. You may or may not feel sensations during a treatment.

Most people enjoy the deep meditative qualities of Reiki, leaving them feeling calm, peaceful, relaxed and destressed. Some people feel sensations of heat, coolness, tingling, or experience seeing colours or vivid images. All of these things are perfectly normal. Some people have an emotional response, indicating that shifts are taking place, allowing harmony to be restored; others feel more energised after a treatment. In fact, over a course of treatments, you may feel an array of experiences and feelings.

What happens during my Reiki treatment?

Our first session lasts approximately one and a quarter to one and a half hours. This involves a full consultation where we discuss your medical history and lifestyle. You will also be asked to sign consent and GDPR forms, which will be explained further on your visit. All records and information are strictly confidential and GDPR compliant. The information you provide will enable me to create a unique, person-centred treatment plan to work with your specific needs at the time. This part of the session usually takes up to 30 minutes.

You will be required to remove just your shoes and will be invited to relax on a comfortable massage couch. A chair can be used if you have a disability or injury. You may decide that you would like relaxing music during your session, or you may prefer complete quiet. I will then place my hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on or near the body.

Some people prefer the feeling of being touched; others do not. Because Reiki works with energy, not being touched will not make the treatment any less beneficial. There is no massage or manipulation. I may use crystals or cards during your treatment with your permission. This part of the session is usually 45 minutes, depending on your choice of treatment.

At the end of the session, we will discuss your treatment. I will also provide you with aftercare advice to help you to receive the maximum benefits from your treatment.

Subsequent appointments last approximately 60 minutes:  45 minutes treatment, plus brief consultation and aftercare advice.

Distance Reiki

Distance Reiki healing is based on the ancient principle known as the 'Hermetic Law of Similarity', which states that we are all connected, as we are all made of energy and part of a larger whole.

When the Reiki Master invokes the Distance Symbol, it is believed to assist them in crossing any time, distance or space, linking up to the energy field of the recipient, who is not physically present. This is particularly useful if someone is unwell, if for some reason you cannot attend an appointment, or you wish to send Reiki healing to someone that you care about, as the person does not need to be physically present to receive the treatment.

Based upon the same principle, Reiki practitioners ‘send’ Reiki energy to situations, say for example the job interview that you may have coming up, or to disasters around the world. I am part of a large distance healing group that collectively sends positive Reiki healing to people, animals and events to anywhere across the globe.

Please contact me for more information as the circumstances with each Distance Reiki treatment are usually different.

Reiki Drumming

This is a specialised, Shamanic-inspired method of Reiki healing using the sound waves from the drum to introduce Reiki energy more deeply into your energy field in order to facilitate deep relaxation and stress relief. As stress is relieved, tensions or emotions in the physical body are often released.

Reiki drumming affects the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual bodies simultaneously, raising your vibration rate to levels that may allow your body to accelerate its innate healing abilities, helping your body to be more harmonised. Drumming reminds our body of its ideal vibratory rate, which is in harmony with the Universal flow of creation and the pulse of the earth.

Drums and rhythm have been used for thousands of years in community settings for sharing celebrations, for rituals and for ceremonial occasions. Since ancient times, through native, spiritual and shamanic healing, drumming has been used as a way to align with the Divine. When combined with the energy of Reiki, this can result in an enhanced healing experience.

In my practice, I offer different types of drumming treatments for different purposes, such as: chakra balancing, drum journeying, manifesting and intention setting and to support emotional release. I also offer a shared Reiki Drumming session.

Experience Reiki on a whole new level with a Reiki Drumming treatment or package.

Whether you are looking to manifest using the ‘Law of Attraction’, experience a Reiki Drum Journey, receive a chakra balancing treatment, aim to release tension and emotions, or simply wish to try a different form of Reiki healing, then Reiki Drumming may be the treatment for you.
