Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a few answers of our most frequently asked questions. If you can't find the answer you were looking for, feel free to contact me using the form at the bottom of the page.
-
Is there any advice I should follow after my treatments?Yes, you will be given aftercare advice at the end of each treatment, tailored to your needs at the time.
-
How many Reflexology sessions will I need? This depends on your particular health concerns, how long you have been experiencing them and if you have specific health and well-being goals that you would like to achieve with the support of Reflexology. I can advise you on this following your first treatment. In some cases more frequent sessions are recommended, however usually I suggest a session every 1-2 weeks until the end of your treatment plan, which lasts on average 6-8 weeks; this is advised to get the maximum benefit. From then on, regular monthly or fortnightly maintenance treatments may be advised, only if needed. If you have Lymphoedema or Oedema, this will depend on the severity of your condition and other factors, like hot weather, that can make the condition worse. Reflexology Lymph Drainage results are cumulative over time, so initially a few treatments should be had close together, ideally weekly (4-6 treatments), then top-up treatments as and when needed, but this does depend on the individual. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss this further.
-
Can I just have one Reflexology session?Yes, but to receive the full benefits of Reflexology it is recommended to have a minimum of 6 sessions, which is why I offer courses of treatments.
-
Can I have Reflexology every week?Yes, some clients choose to have Reflexology weekly to maintain their health and well-being, for quality relaxation time for themselves, or to alleviate the stress, anxieties and tensions caused by modern everyday life.
-
What if I am ticklish or feel conscious about showing my feet? The pressure is precise and firm, so does not tend to tickle. Pressure can also be increased or decreased according to your needs. I am used to working with feet of all shapes and sizes and with all kinds of conditions, all are unique and fascinating. Did you know that you can tell a lot about a person’s health, emotions and personality by observing the feet? I have studied foot reading; clients have been amazed at what can be learnt from the feet. If you really are concerned about this still, you can always opt for Hand Reflexology instead, however nearly all of my clients after reading this feel comfortable enough to try Foot Reflexology and really enjoy it. Please let me know upon arrival (or beforehand if possible) that you would like Hand Reflexology.
-
What if I fall asleep during my Reflexology session? When it comes to receiving Reflexology, everybody is different. Some people fall asleep; others become emotional, wish to talk, or become deeply relaxed, but not fully asleep. This may even be different with each treatment depending on how you feel. If you do fall asleep, you will still receive the benefits of Reflexology and I will wake you up gently at the end of the session.
-
Can I have Reflexology if I am pregnant?Yes, Reflexology is completely safe during pregnancy. In fact, it can help to alleviate symptoms often associated with pregnancy such as oedema (swelling) or heartburn. Let me know if you are pregnant when you book your appointment. As a therapist, I prefer to treat clients after their first trimester. Please get permission from your midwife before receiving Reflexology. If you are pregnant, make sure you eat a small meal and have fluids no later than an hour before coming for your appointment.
-
Can I have Reflexology if I have cancer or am undergoing cancer treatment?Yes. Reflexology is just one of many holistic therapies used to support people with cancer or for those receiving treatments for cancer. As with all of my therapies, your treatment will be tailored to your specific needs and symptoms at the time.
-
Is there disability access?Yes. There’s a set of double doors to the property and the bank vault itself has a wider entrance.
-
What should I wear for my Reflexology session? For Foot Reflexology, please wear comfortable clothes that can be rolled up to your knees if needed (ideally not very tight leggings, or trousers that you would prefer not to crease). If you are having Hand Reflexology, wear comfortable clothing that can be rolled up to the elbows, or a sleeveless top (like a vest top) if you have Lymphoedema in the arm(s).
-
Reflexology or Reiki? If you are unsure about which treatment is right for you, or you simply wish to try both treatments, why not book in for our Halo to Heel Package, which combines a full Reflexology session and 30 minutes Reiki. This includes a full consultation to help you to get the most out of your holistic treatments and to help you make a more informed choice.
-
Do I need to remove my clothes for a Reiki treatment? No. For Reiki treatments, only your shoes need to be removed.
-
Does the therapist need to touch my body for Reiki to work? No. Some people prefer the feeling of being touched; others do not. Because Reiki works with energy, not being touched will not make the treatment any less beneficial.
-
What if I fall asleep during my Reiki session? When it comes to receiving Reiki, everybody is different. Some people fall asleep; others feel emotional. Most of the time people feel deeply relaxed, but not fully asleep. Your feelings and experiences may even be different with each treatment. If you do fall asleep, you will still receive the benefits of Reiki as the energy flows wherever it needs to. I will wake you up gently at the end of the session.
